A member of the Tuatha de Danann, daughter of the Dagda "All-Father," she represents spring in its most vibrant and warm expression, and her cult extends throughout Ireland. She is a contradictory figure, as evidenced by her attributes as a protective goddess of the hearth (domestic fire), women, children, healing, fertility, and motherhood, a goddess of fire, passion, and patron of blacksmiths, and also a goddess of water and serenity.
